Our award-winning health and fitness service was borne of the idea that overcoming limitations, self-doubt, and a lack of representation can lead to incredible things. At Living in Fitness we believe an active life is a fulfilling life and that older adults should have access to fitness programmes designed to suit their needs.
Founder Carl Davis recognised that today’s gym and fitness clubs often don’t accommodate those in their later years, those with limited mobility, or people recovering from illness. His dream was to create a welcoming, comfortable, and safe space for members to connect with one another to achieve their wellness goals.
Carl has always been passionate about health and fitness. After earning a 2:1 in Business and Marketing from Oxford Brookes University, he went on to gain his fitness qualifications. Combining his academic background with his personal passion, Carl developed a health and fitness service designed specifically for those who didn’t feel they belonged in traditional workout spaces.
“While I was in the gym, I noticed something. It was loud. The music was always on, and the lines of machines and weights were intimidating to anybody who didn’t know how to use them. The trainers were mostly looking to work with people who were already in good health.
I felt that I could make a difference for older adults who wanted to become more active. That I could create a socially responsible company that provided members with a greater sense of identity and connection, all whilst helping them to become stronger and more energetic.”
Carl Davis, Founder and class Instructor

I’m excited to introduce Debbie, LIF’s part-time Wellbeing Assistant, and community class instructor. Debbie supports us with administrative tasks and also leads LivingFit Face to Face classes.
"I have been attending Carl's fitness class for over 5 years. I feel, as an older person, that my fitness, mobility, balance and strength has improved no end. From this it occurred to me that everyone who can should be experiencing this feel good factor.
I mentioned to Carl that I would like to contribute to spreading the word and getting involved with trying to encourage and work with people like me. So I am now running classes after going through the relevant training. I look forward to continuing to improve other people's lives and well-being".
